2) yes they are but they look do looks different body shapes slightly x there are all-so So many makes of these it is different to tell the differance and anyway the carrera gt is the best lookin car ive ever damn seen and thats coming from a girl x – icharleyXoXo
3) the 911s are faster if you chose the turbo compared to the 4S carrera.
The 911s have a bit wider wheels so its a bit harder to lose control unless you mod it like crazy. – Elias
4) The Carrera GT or CGT is NOT a 911. But yes the other Carrera’s are on the 911 platform or frame. – Quincee33
5) Carrera is not a line of cars like 911 is.
Carrera is a high end model designation used on any line of cars.
So there is a 911 model that is called a Carrera.
But all 911s are not Carreras.
And there are lines like the Carrera GT that is not 911 based. – Motorhead
6) The carrera and 911 are the same car. There is a Carrera GT that has a V10 engine that does not look anything like a 911. – RAULC
7) Yes and no… When Porsche first applied the Carrera name to a car, it was to designate cars that had the four cam engine, along with other upgrades. The name comes from the Carrera Pan America race, where Porsche had enjoyed a good amount of success just prior marketing the first Carrera models in the 1950s.
The Carrera name would continue to appear in this way through other 356 models as well as the 904… but in 1973 it would finally be applied to the 911 (and without the 4 cam 4 cylinder for the first time as well). The 911RS Carrera was much like earlier Carrera versions, being both lighter and more powerful than the nest highest offering (911S). It was also used as the basis to homogolate the race version (911RSR). 930 models were generally referred to as (early ones badged as) Turbo Carreras.
The 911RS Carrera would be offered again in subsequent years, and the name would also appear with the 924 GTS and GTR models. But in 1984, Porsche began using the Carrera name on all 911 models and in a mostly interchangable fashion.
It has continued to do so since… though in fact, the company ceased producing the 911 in 1989 (though the 911 name still often comes up and is generally applied in relation to newre Carrera models). Carrera models since have been the 964, 993, 996, and the current 997. The name also was used on the Carrera GT model which was completely unrelated to the 911 series. – Paul S
"Carrera," which is spanish for "race" has been used exclusively (registered trademark) by Porsche on several of their cars, including 911s, 356s, 924s, and others. This honors the company’s success in the Carrera Panamericana. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Porsche_Carrera . Most 911s made today are Carreras, although the word does not necessarily appear on the the car (nor does the designation "911"). So today, mainly, 911s and Carreras are one and the same. There were 911s built before Porsche started using "Carrera," and other designations have been used on some 911s.
The Carrera GT was not a 911, but a mid-engine V10 super car built by Porsche for a few years. In this case, "Carrera" was actually part of the name of the car. Some specialty (read "built primarily for club track use") 911s — the GT2 and GT3 cars — are considered to be their own models, and so might not be Carreras. The 911 Turbo is also considered a separate model; however, my 2005 "911 Turbo" owner’s manual specifically uses the term "Carrera." You decide.
In 2000 Porsche produced the 911 Millenium model and used a "911" badge on the tail of the car. http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploads14/P10004071229819030.jpg&imgrefurl=http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-cars-sale/447397-f-s-2000-porsche-911-millennium-edition-44-000-miles.html&h=580&w=800&sz=92&tbnid=aiSR4186jR4o4M:&tbnh=104&tbnw=143&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dporsche%2B911%2Bmillenium%2Bedition&zoom=1&usg=__Qk-Pxuwd3hZ_PEg_c4-oQ-0kLSQ=&sa=X&ei=f6pyTKPRJ42esQPajpzECw&ved=0CC4Q9QEwBA .
ADDED:
To be clear, Porsche believes they still make a "911." Others may know better. 964, 993. 996, 997, and the coming-in-2012 998 are Porsche codes which refer to the body form of the cars — fender shapes, headlights and front fascia, and windshield rake. All "911" cars beginning with the 996 use a water-cooled engine; prior to that they were air-cooled. – designergenes

Question 3
Ferrari or porsche? which car is prettier?… I think the most beautiful Ferrari models.
Answers
1) u gave manufactures.. u didnt give specific models… –
2) I like both if them. But the real hell cat is Porsche 917 twin turbo 1150 HP. 0 to 60-= 2.5 sec. top speed 212 MPH. – renegadesail
3) porsche!
(: – Lgia100%So Paulina
4) i think porsches are ugly. sorry porsche fans. – Vincent
5) Ferrari’s are nice, I would call them beautiful or pretty but definitely amazing. I’m partial to Lambo’s though. Im not big on Ferrari’s.
Aston’s are beautiful as are Bentley’s and Rolls.
Porsche’s in my view are not pretty, but they are darn cool. The styling is a bit retro, just a tad, but they are practical sports cars. At times I can say a 911 Targa is a beautiful car. – BimmerCat!
6) definetly the Ferraris. Many porsche models, like the panamera, are very ugly. The only ugly Ferrari is the 612 Scaglietti. So definetly the Ferraris – Andrew
7) BMW – eaglestotheSBin2010
This is obviously subjective. I’m a long time Porsche 911 owner. I know Porsches are mechanically superior to Ferraris. The Italian super cars are engineered to the very limit — they break way too easily. German engineers are more conservative and know what a factor of safety is all about (Yeah, I’m a mechanical engineer).
BUT, when it comes to sheer over-the-top design panache, you’ve got to hand it to the Italians. Porsches are hardly ugly; in fact, the Cayman is truly a beautiful car. The 911 is an "icon," something so beloved by its fans that Porsche is actually afraid of changing it too much. When they had come to the absolute limit of what could be done with an air-cooled engine in 1998, they introduced a water-cooled 911 in 1999 — to silence and even outright hatred from the faithful.
The 911 is the second oldest sports car design still being produced. Corvette is first and Mustang third.
So, to reiterate: Porsches are beautiful cars — I’m stopped every time I drive my 2005 911 Turbo S coupe (shown) by people, including BMW and Corvette owners, who tell me how beautiful the car is. The real crown pretty in the stable is the Cayman. Ferraris are impractical as hell, but amazing to look at, AND I must admit that the car I examined carefully one day that looked most like a starship come to earth was a Lamborghini. – designergenes
9) Ferrari is a work of art, but the biggest bang for one’s buck is a porsche also they are still pretty nice looking. – RAULC
10) Saleen S7 :p – Duke Of Nothing
11) Definitely Ferrari. Although Porsches have the excellent German engineering, the Ferrari is just absolutely beautiful, and of course most of the time faster than the Porsche. Plus, I really don’t like Porsche’s circle lights, they don’t look agressive at all, I just like the back of Porsches. Now compare that to the new Ferrari 458 Italia, gorgeous from every angle!!! – Nick

Question 4
2011 range rover sport vs 2011 Porsche cayenne?… Which one do you recommend and be specific please.
Answers
1) If you want a car that has a poor seating position, poor ergonomics and poor handling then choose the range rover sport. – Scarface
2) Scarface is right. If you want a car that has a poor seating position, poor ergonomics and poor handling then choose the range rover sport.
BUT
If you want the car that was ultimately the stupidest decision ever made by a car company, go with the Porsche Cayenne. – Fallen Angel
3) The range rover has a better ride. It is less bumpy. – Chandler
4) It depends on what you plan to use the car for.
If you want offroad prowess, then go for the Range Rover, hands down. It can climb over or thru most anything the typical off-roader will throw at it.
If you want on-highway performance and handling, go for the Porsche. No contest. – Richard
5) I prefer the porsche cayenne s it is a nicer ride then the sport and is faster – Jim
6) The connotation of "sport" on the Range Rover, is like the SPORT badge you see on a Ford Explorer…a little bit stiffer springs, maybe thicker roll bars, remapping of engine shifts…that’s about as good as it get’s. Both have outstanding off-road capabilities.
Although I would’nt be caught dead driving an SUV, the Porsche will run circles around the Range Rover, and is MUCH more reliable than the Rover as well. There is a reason in the middle-east(which vanquishes machinery) Porsche’s are driven widely in the desert’s of Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Abu Dabai, etc. They hold up… – Not so Mad Scientist
7) Porsche is nicer and is still a German car. Range Rover is no longer owned by a German company. So if one is going to pay that much I would get the Cayenne. – RAULC
For me they are the same – Marc
9) Get the Porsche, I hate what they did with the back, but the front of the Porsche is beautiful. I definitely recommend getting the Cayenne S though, if you can afford the $65,000 price tag, if you’re getting the Cayenne S then you should absolutely go for it, the Range Rover can’t compete with the Porsche, and of course the German engineering. – Nick
